Lots of New Year’s News

Vacation was great, came back rested, but it’s been quite an exciting week. First of all, I found out that CHANGE OF HEART is now available for pre-order on Barnes and Noble.com and Amazon.com. Each new step makes it all real and this one makes it super-real. Now I won’t get worried about the fact that there’s no cover or description on the B&N site and the Amazon site has a few facts wrong. It’s out there for pre-order! My parents have already ordered 8 copies — I’m on my way!
Looks like my official release date is April 28, 2010. I’ve finished up the post-copyedits (with a sick kid at home, not an easy task) and now await the galleys. And I’ve even pushed forward on my new book. I’m not sure how good it is, but there’s no such thing as a bad first draft, right? (or is it that all first drafts are bad and it doesn’t matter?!)
Two wonderful bloggers listed CHANGE OF HEART as their “Waiting on Wednesday” picks (several bloggers take Wednesdays to talk about books they’re looking forward to reading). So big thanks to Katie at Katie’s Book Blog and Amber at the Reading Addict blog for spreading the word about CHANGE OF HEART. It was fun, too, to read the comments that others left. I have a feeling that there will be strong feelings about my TWILIGHT-reminiscent cover, both positive and negative. I hope that either way, people see past the cover and know that the two books are very different. And of course, I hope they pick up CHANGE OF HEART either way!
The Page Turner’s Blog is featuring mini-interviews with the Class of 2K10.
Speaking of the Class of 2K10, it was a HUGE week for us with 4 books debuting this week.
Congrats to Bonnie Doerr for ISLAND STING, Irene Latham for LEAVING GEE’S BEND, Kitty Keswick for FREAKSVILLE and Jennifer R. Hubbard for THE SECRET YEAR. These are all going on my next Barnes and Noble order (let’s hear it for the B&N Mastercard and free books — well, not free, but books I can buy with my Mastercard rewards gift cards!)
Congrats to all 4 wonderful authors! I’ve got a lot of good reading ahead of me!

Having the April 28th date is exciting, but my editor warned me that because WestSide is a small press, sometimes there are delays. She’s encouraging me to do my blog posts and other launch-type stuff in May.
So it could be out April 28th, could be a little later. But April 28th is the official date, so my fingers are crossed!
